Hi guys, Today (Saturday) me and my host family are flying to Florida for springbreak. I am really superduper exited. There's a tiny little problem though.. We've been here at the airport for like 2 hours now and our flight is delayed without a departure-time. It kinda sucks to not know when we're leaving but I guess we're going to get to florida one way or another. Oh, and wifi is just complimentary too so you have to pay for it after a while, so we're stuck here for probably hours to come, without internet. Not my cup of tea.
Well I hope you're having a good time! I'll talk to you guys later!
Today, 23/3, is my lovely mother's birthday. I called her this morning and sang for her over FaceTime. My grandpa and grandma were there and I got to talk to them too, that felt really good. I hav not talked to them for almost 6 months and I miss them a lot.
Today me, my friends Bryce, Colin, Hanna and my girlfriend Sophe went hiking during the day. We left our house at like 11.15 to pick up all the people. We got to the haiking spot after about a 30 minute drive. My firend Bryce knows where all the good spots are because he likes hiking and camping and stuff like that so he recomended this place. We hiked for almost 40 minutes up hills, down hills, straight flat ground and finally we got to a beautiful place were we sat camp for the day. We brought water, foods, and like some snacks so we could make through the day. Here are some pictures from the day!
We made a little fire to be able to keep ourselfs warm and to grill some hotdogs. It turned out pretty good!
Hanna also had her very first hotdog today, big ups hanna! She's been a vegitarian for a very long time but decided to stop when she got here. She is an exchange student from Germany.
Bryce even brought some beans to heat up over the open fire we had. He recently bought some new camping/hiking stuff that he was eager to try and use. It was a good investment!
Me and Colin trying to get the fire going, it took quite some time...
It was very snowy for a while but then it stopped.
We also grilled some marshmellows (i do not know how to spell it haha) and they were very good, as usual!
And of course, the cheesy couple picture.
The little camp we had. And yes, that is a hamock.
Our very own Bear Grylls.
I think I speak for everyone when I say that we all had a good day. Thank you Bryce for showing us how everything is done in the wilderness! We'll have to do it soon again. I can't wait!
Hope you guys at home are good and are having a good time, as I am.
I am really good and I am super exited to tell you guys about my weekend.
I took so many pictures on both my phone and my camera so I might just do two different posts with pictures and text, we'll see!
So as I said I would talk about my weekend. Me, my girlfriend and her family + their exchangestudent went to Detroit for the weekend to go to the Detroit Red Wings game. We also went to a golfshow, Sophie's dad works at a golfclub so he were there representing his club. That was a lot of fun because they had all these cool putting-greens and a lotttt of clothes and hats. It was fun spending a couple of hours there! After that we went to a mall and I bought two pairs of shoes. I really needed new shoes because my other ones are litterly falling apart. It was two for the prize of one so I was happy! I'll post a picture later of them! (You can also see one pair of them on some of the pictures, they are red and they're nike's).
Before the game we went to eat at a restaurant called "Hockeytown". It was a super cool restaurant/bar people go to before the game to hang out and eat or just to watch the game. They had good food and it was a really nice place. They had motorcycles in the windows!
I took a picture of it, this is how it looks.
After hockeytown we took the car to the arena. The Detroit Red Wings arena is called Joe Louis arena and it is huuge. We had the privlages to park in the same parkingarea as the players, which is right next to the arena, seriously, that was so cool to see all the players cars lined up by their number plates! We went in the backdoor and waited for a while inside for a guy to take us to our seats. Here area couple pictures!
When we got to our seats I was like holy crap. We sat right behhind the bench, two rows up. I've never been that close ever to professional hockeyplayers, or any other professional players of some kind! It was like you were in the game! I could see all my swedish boys on the bench and I was thinking of talking to them but I didn't.
Anyways, here are some pictures of the game, not just some, a ton of pictures:
The game was the coolest sporting event I've been to because I actually knew the guys on the ice! The were from Sweden and some of them, like Niklas Kronwall, is born and raised in Sthlm and has played for my favorite team in Sweden, Djurgården! It was just amazing seeing it live and all the people around you and it was so cool. I get like a kid in a candystore just writing about it.
The game ended 7-4 to the Red Wings and everyone was cheering and was happy about that. We went down to where we came from before the game started and waited for a while. We went in to a guys office and he had real jearseys for us!! Real Red Wings jearseys! I got a one with number 11, Alfredsson, because he is Swedish. We went out from his office and he lead us to the lockerroom and we were in the Detroit Red Wings lockerroom. I could not beleive it. It was like the coolest thing ever! We also went out to the bench where the Red Wings player sit during the game and took pictures and just sat there for a while and looked around on the huge arena. It's got to be hard to focus sometimes when you are on the ice whit all these people around! But I don't know, they might be used to it. Here are some pictures from all the things I've talked about above:
When we we're almost done and ready to go I saw Niklas Kronwall, me and my dad's favorite player in the NHL. He is Swedish and he is born and raised in Djurgården so I told Sophie I had to talk to him. Sophie's dad brought me up to him and he said, This is Jon, he is from Sweden, and Kronwall was like; Tjena!! Hur är läget? We talked for a while about the game and where I live in Sweden and about Djurgården and that he has got a summerhouse in Ljusterö and that he always stops on the way there in our town to buy groceries and stuff! He said, it's a small world we live in, and I agree! Here are a couple pictures of me and the Champ:
So to summerize this weekend I would first of all thank the family Shriver for taking me to Detroit with them. I had a really good weekend that I won't forget! I hope you guys got a perspective what I did this weekend and that you had the same amount of fun I did!
Just a quick little post for now. I'm going to Detroit tomorrow morning with my girlfriend and her family. We're going to the Detroit red wings hockey game tomorrow night and we're going to a golfshow during the day. It's about a 4 hour drive there and we're staying the night. I am super exited! Some of the players are from Sweden so it'll be a lot lf fun to see them play in the biggest hockey league in the world! I will post some pictures from it when I come home Saturday or Sunday. Stay tuned!
I'm doing fine and having a great time, as always. I'm trying to blog more often and to post more pictures on facebook and here so you know how I have it and what I do during my days.
Lately my hostsister and her basketball team has had a lot of games because the season is almost over and the qurterfinals and semifinals has started. The Chippewa team is undefeated this year and that is amazing. They have not lost one single game! Here comes some baskeball pictures:
On tuesday they have a really important game so wish them good luck!
As I said I'm going to try to show you a little bit more about my weekdays so I'm going to take my camera anywhere I go, not school because thats boring haha. Do you want me to do a videoblog and talk about whatever, if you have any questions or anything? Comment below!
There's been a lot of nice sunsets and toningt me and Sophie went to the beach and took some pictures of it, it was beautiful, and so was she.
Now I'm just sitting in my bed doing nothing, not to happy with the fact that it is monday tomorrow, but let's just hope for a really good week! And the coming friday, I'm going to Detroit to watch the Detroit Red Wings play! I'm super exited and it is going to be a lot of fun! I will take a lot of pictures so I can post them here later!
